Abstract

This study presents a critical analysis of the environmental aspects in literary travelogues of the Northern Areas. The primary objective is to explore how these travel narratives depict the relationship between nature, environment, and human life, and to what extent the authors highlight environmental changes, the use of natural resources, and their impact on local culture. The scenic valleys, snow-covered mountains, and crystal-clear lakes of the Northern regions are not portrayed merely as aesthetic landscapes; rather, the associated environmental issues such as global warming, deforestation, and tourism pressure are also discussed from a critical perspective. Through the analysis of selected Urdu travelogues, this study demonstrates that writers not only appreciate the beauty of nature but also emphasize the need for its preservation. Consequently, it can be argued that travel literature of the Northern Areas plays a significant role in raising environmental awareness and encourages readers to adopt eco-friendly attitudes.
