Psychological Factors Of Fear In “Udas Naslain”: An Analytical Study

Abstract

This article examines the psychological factors of fear in Abdullah Hussain’s novel Udas Naslain. It explores fear as a significant human emotion shaped by social conditions, historical context, and individual experiences, while also highlighting the literary importance of the novel.

The study analyzes key dimensions of fear, including insecurity, alienation, anxiety, fear of death, uncertainty, inferiority complex, and feelings of helplessness. It also considers irrational fears that influence characters’ behavior and decisions. The analysis shows that fear in Udas Naslain functions as a deep psychological force that shapes characters’ inner conflicts, thoughts, and actions. The study concludes that fear plays a central role in character development and reflects the complex relationship between individual psychology and socio-historical realities
