Contemporary Urdu fiction serves as an important medium for representing the psychological, social, and economic complexities of human life. Among the issues explored by modern novelists, sexuality and its related behavioral patterns occupy a significant position. Sexual disinterest is a multifaceted psychological and social phenomenon that influences an individual's sexual orientation, intimate relationships, and social conduct. Its causes may include physical weakness, psychological stress, economic pressures, family conflicts, social restrictions, childhood experiences, sexual abuse, and negative perceptions regarding sexuality. In contemporary Urdu novels, sexual disinterest appears in various forms, including emotional and marital detachment, sexual dissatisfaction, alienation from heterosexual relationships, identity crises, and, in some cases, inclination toward alternative sexual expressions. This article examines the causes, manifestations, and implications of sexual disinterest as portrayed in contemporary Urdu novels. The study argues that these novels not only depict the phenomenon itself but also reveal the social, psychological, and economic forces that contribute to its formation. Through a textual and analytical approach, the article highlights how contemporary Urdu fiction provides valuable insights into the complexities of human sexuality and its impact on individual and social life.
